Working with a variety of local organizations teaches an important lesson: good ideas come from the bottom up. But, too often, we find Montgomery dictating to us from the top down. I believe people in Vestavia Hills or Mountain Brook know their community’s education needs best, just as the people of Birmingham know what their minimum wage should be. It’s time to reform the constitution to empower the people closest to a problem to fix it themselves.
As a member of the Alabama House of Representatives, I will vote to reform Alabama’s outdated constitution to put the power to govern back in the hands of the people.
